Restting connections

I have a problem with a test server, it is resetting some of the connections, like one user has a telnet session open to it and he suddenly lost the connection.
Same thing happened with the backup:

[Major] From: BSM@robur.rpcsap.com "Ares_Full" Time: 6/27/2008 4:32:00 AM

[61:3003] Lost connection to BMA named "ARES-DLT"

on host ares.rpcsap.com.

Ipc subsystem reports: "IPC Read Error

System error: [232] Connection reset by peer

The system is running hp-ux 10.20.

Re: Restting connections

These errros look like omniback/DP errors. Does this happen to telnet sessions as well? Did something happen to the OB/DP server at 4:32:00am or is there a more widespread outage at that time? You need to narrow down the problem and give more details.

Re: Restting connections

Yea, I have complains from few users that they are lossing telent connections as well. No Dp is runnning fine. Only this server has problem in backup.

Is this the same server that users are getting disconnected in telnet? Then this server is having intermittent network disconnects. You need to try and narrow it down. Check if it happens at certain times, do pings, check the network status, check server LAN wiring, network switches, duplicate IP address etc.

Re: Restting connections

Check /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log and see if anything of consequence is logged there.
