.rhosts with serviceguard

All,

Does anyone know if it is a requirement to have a .rhosts file for the root user with reference to all other nodes in the cluster in order for service guard to function. From a security perspective I would like to remove this file however I feel it will may impact the cluster.

Re: .rhosts with serviceguard

HI ,
Normaly .rhosts is not used. Since it is less secure.
You can have /etc/cmcluster/nodelists instead for service guard specific operations.

Re: .rhosts with serviceguard

Withe the latest release of Serviceguard, 11.16, there is a newer authentication method that allows you to set Role Based Access.
the cmclnodelist file is used at initial cluster creation, and then is ignored, so even that small security hole has been reduced in size.
