Re: Riso Printer on Unix

Do you have hppi installed ?  If it's there you may try to add it using hppi.  If that doesn't support then you can't install it as network printer.   You need to install it as remote printer.

Sorry it may sound a bit dump but I'd like to install it as network printer if you can just assist in how to go about it.

Re: Riso Printer on Unix

Hi,

generally it's possible to configure a printer without JetDirect (from HP), you should try it.
First you should check if you can telnet to the printer.
Then, in SAM add a network-based printer.

SAM -> Printers and Plotters -> LP Spooler -> Printers and Plotters ->
Actions -> Add Network-based Printer/Plotter

Create a printer configuration and give it any LAN hardware address.
It will say that it's not a JetDirect hardware address but it will continue.
Also if SAM can't 'ping' the printer in its test you can send a file or any output of UX to the printer and see if it works.

Sometimes it works...

Good luck
