RMAN-20035, high RECID Error using Busisness copy

Hi Guys.
I am using the HP Busisness copy on HP unix and oracle 8, I am cloning the database to another machine and taking the backup on tape using RMAN, its works successfully after registering the database in catalog once and when we sync the database with the production after backup on next day or next time,its gives the "RMAN-20035, high RECID Error" error during backup and the backup fails, I am using the following procdedure,

- Shut down DB
- Sync file system
- Split BC pairs
- Restart DB
- Do backup of split pairs
- Re-sync when backup completes.

we use to remove the archive logs from the production server manuelly by note down the series from the BC Server, is it not the way to remove the archive logs ?
If anyone has face this problem and got any solution then please help me.

I have gone through these docs already but my problem came again and again I make a sync and again I need to follow these steps to solve the problem.
