Dear Sirs,
We use iPlanet web server on hpux 11:00. It is running plugin for weblogic server etc.
We noticed connnection refused errors continously for 20 minutes in errors log files. We found that all the instances were
shutdown. In all the instances of web servers we saw connection refused errors for almost 20 minutes.
We didn't see any core files.
Can anyone suggest the root cause of iplanet shutting down automatically ?
Thanks,
Shiv

Was your system starving? that is were you out of memory and swapping?
I have seen Iplanet die when the system is overloaded...

Re: root cause of iplanet crash on hpux
Setup GlancePlus to watch your system resources. Enable as much logging on iplanet as possible. Make sure you have enough space for a core dump if one does occur :) or it wont do you much good. Also check with your vendor and see if there are any patches they recommend to help with odd crashes such as yours. Make sure your kernel parameters are right, that swapinfo -t looks healthy. If your system has been up over a hundred days you might consider a reboot. Even though a unix sysetem can stay booted much longer, one must come to terms that applications like to muck around :).
Good luck.
Good luck.
