root full

hi,

the root file system is full and i am unable to login with the consol too.. it gives the same error " root file system full"

any suggestion pls

try to single user mode. and cleanup / directory

You must boot in single user for resolve this problem

What is your version of HPUX ?
Have you GSP , if yes generated a toc in gsp

Ctrl B, select menu command
CM-->tc or CM -->rs

If no GSp, you must have a toc button


If you are in PARISC, hpux -is
if you are in Itanium boot vmunix -is

-You can boot in single user mode and remove unwanted files from root,

cd /
du -k | sort -rn | more

Find and delete large files you don't need on root.

As noted above it may be necessary to boot single user to totally resolve this issue.
