Re: root pasword lost
1.When the system is booting at the console is asking for you to type wiothin 10 seconds interrupt the auto boot sequence ,this will take you to the IPL prompt
2.Then type BO PRI . it will ask you to interact with ISL say yes
3.Type hpux -is to boot in the single user mode .
4. change the passwd of root using passwd root , or sam .
You are good to go.

Re: root pasword lost
If your system is not trusted system, you have to reboot the machine, stop the autoboot process, start from primary path " bo pri ", then choose ISL ( yes ). Now user hpux -is to start on single user.
When you have got prompt on single user mode, you can change the root password.
If your system is trusted system, you have to do the same above and then delete the password on file /tcb/files/auth/r/root.
I hope this help you.
Please, do not forget the points for us.
Thanks in advance.
Juanma.

Re: root pasword lost
non- trusted system:
boot in single user mode, manually boot, interact with IPL, enter hpux -is then.
You won't have to enter a password then.
trusted system with secured console:
jumper another SCSI- device to the same SCSI- target number as your boot- disk.
This causes a SCSI- error, which automatically resests your console.
Allways stay on the bright side of life!
