Re: rp3440 servers
Probably not.
The hardware is radically different, the superdome being cell based, the rp3440 not.
You might be able to make an Ignite Golden Software image and use that.

Solutionfundementally different hardware - I doubt it would work.
I have had success restoring to different systems, but I have not tried such completely disparate servers.
If you want to try it, and gcan get tot the main ignite configuration screen,be sure to select cloning to different hardware = true under the additional options button - this *may* allow ignite to restore the data.

Re: rp3440 servers
Basically, the OS might be the way, but in the OS we have device files for specific hardware, different type of controllers, not to mention that a Superdome is totally different than any other server.
Some times it works on similar architectures, for example same controller and the we can see the harddrives to boot from them and the it's just a matter of fixing details.
But this case, almost everything that is device related, is not compatible.
Regards,
Jaime.

Re: rp3440 servers
It still will not work.
Superdome is cell based. Totally different hardware than an rp3440.
Creating a golden software image as I directed above WILL work.
Its takes more time but is not hardware dependent as is a make_net_recovery or make_tape_recovery
The kernel supports the hardware and the kernel saved on your tape is not going to work on a superdome.
The solution to this problem is either a cold install followed by application installation or Ignite Golden image.
Your choice.

Re: rp3440 servers
Your have increased your odds for success, but I would still place them at under 50%.
About the only way to tell is to try to boot off of the ignite image - if you make it to the customized installation screen and can tell it to clone, then the chances are pretty good (say 75%) it will work.
