RP8420 Boot Process
We have recently purchased an rp8420 server. The server has been configured with two hardware partitions (HP), and two Virtual Partitions (VP) per HP. I have a question relating to the rp8420 boot process. At the moment when we boot up the rp8420 through the Maintenance Processor, we have to interrupt the boot process at the 10 second message. If we fail to catch the 10 second message it boots up straight into the vmunix of the primary VP and we are unable to then bring up the second non-primary VP as â vparsâ will not be accessible. This is a little annoying as we have to sit and watch the thing while it boots so we can interrupt it, then interact with ISL, then boot up into vpmon. Can anyone tell me how I can configure the system so that it by default stops at the 10 second message without me having to catch it?
Many Thanks

Re: RP8420 Boot Process
Hi,
You will need to configure "Path Flags" in order to stop at bootadmin prompt. First time, interact with BCH. Go to configuration menu by typing "co". There type 'pf'. and it will show the current settings.
pf pri 0
will configure to always stop the primary boot at BCH. There are other options available.
But you don't really want to do it as in case system has to go down, one has to always go to BCH to boot the system up. Also, your AUTO flag should be set to boot /stand/vpmon instead of vmunix.

You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try
