RPC: Authentication error

help please...
after reading many man pages & docs, I'm confused.

I get the following error with the bdf command:

NFS access failed for server nas1: RPC: Authentication error

I am not able to access the mounted server, it's locked and get cannot read error. I've mounted it before and used it in the past but now I can't. I'm running C3600 with 11i, Other hpux c3600's get the same error but can access the drive.

My box is the nis server and gets no access, while others have access. not fair :)

The drive im trying to mount is a nas server running win2000 server with an NFS shared folder. I'm not real impressed with nis, is there a better way? I'd like to just access this network drive and never have to mess with winblows.

my nsswitch.conf file is attached.

Thanks,
John

Re: RPC: Authentication error

Check the /etc/hosts file on both NFS server and client and make sure each other are listed.

IT is great!

Re: RPC: Authentication error

The nas server is listed in /etc/hosts by ip address and name. where is this file in the nas server running win2000 server? my knowledge of windows is limited. if it were up to me, our entire company would be running unix, but when communicating with our office and sales people, they insist on windows. users and ip addresses are "populated" in the nfs sharing area of the nas.

I also have 2 domain names set in hpux one normal for internet use and one for nis, could this be a conflict?
