rpcinfo -p looks for portmapper on 11.11
The command "rpcinfo -p" will wait for 2-3 minutes before the message output,
rpcinfo: can't contact portmapper: RPC: Rpcbind failure - RPC: Failed (unspecifi
ed error)
Isn't the daemon should be rpcbind as a replacement to portmapper?
I see rpcbind is running on my A500.
As a result, swinstall will fail.
Anybody know about this issue?

Re: rpcinfo -p looks for portmapper on 11.11
portmapper is still required in some instances. Your problem indicates a few possibilites, likely to be an NFS problem. Have a look at this similar discussion.

Re: rpcinfo -p looks for portmapper on 11.11
Start or stop nfs client and server has no effect on the rpcinfo -p error. How do I understand rpcbind is a replacement to portmapper? On the other hand, I don't see a portmapper on my 11.11.

Re: rpcinfo -p looks for portmapper on 11.11
It's my mistake. Once I got the current host information correct in /etc/hosts, no problem any more.
