RS232 Configuration
Hi
I have a HP9000 D280 running HPUX 10.20. When the system first powers up to firmware mode, RTS and DTR on the console port are active (High). When I boot the system and it starts to load UX, one of the first messages is "System Console on built-in RS232 port". Just as that message appears the RTS and DTR signals on the Console port go low. Does anyone have any idea what I need to do so that DTR and RTS remain high during the boot process and once the OS is completly up?
Any and all help is appreciated,
Dan

Re: RS232 Configuration
Not sure if this will help but are you in "remote console mode". If you were then the remote console user would be connected in parallel to your local console but maybe there is an issue with this. Access the Access Port by entering Ctrl B. Use the "ER" AP command to see if you are in remote console mode. If you are turn it offf with the "DR" AP command. Exit the Access Port with the "CO" AP command.
Hope this helps

Re: RS232 Configuration
Dan,
This port is designed to connect a system Console that uses Xon/Xoff flow control. I'm afraid no one really cares that the lines for hardware flow control do not behave in the way they should

There is no good troubleshooting with bad data
