Re: rsh nt to HP-UX
You are getting this, correct?
C:\>rsh pbctst -l root bdf
pbctst.paychex.com: remshd: Login incorrect.
rsh: can't establish connection
C:\>
TO get it to work, you will need to put a .rhosts entry in for the user specified by "-l".

Re: rsh nt to HP-UX
Either /etc/hosts.equiv or the .rhosts file in fngj's home directory on ptihp1 has an entry for your NT pc. It apparantly is either:
name_of_NT_pc
-or-
name_of_NT_pc fngj
The first case implicitly limits the user to the one whose home directory it's in (fngj).
The second case explicitly limits the user to fngj.
You need to add a line like:
name_of_NT_pc administrator

Re: rsh nt to HP-UX
I'm Administrator on NT
and added this to roots ~/.rhosts
mypcname +
~

The + accepts the user names of all lengths...

Re: rsh nt to HP-UX
also
Is it possible to specify a subnet instead of a computer name?
Thanks,
John.

Re: rsh nt to HP-UX
NThost NTuser
Then on NT you do :
rsh uxhost -l uxuser uxcommand
I.e. with "uxhost -l uxuser" you specify where you 'go to' and 'to' which user you go. With .rhosts you specify where you 'come from' and as which user you come.
