Rtrieve default permission
I'm looking for a way to retreive file permission of entire file system.
I executed command
usermod -u 500 -g 500 nobody.
After that, owner of all file and directory changed to nobody.
Is there any way to get back permission to initial state of first installed state.
Thanks.

Re: Rtrieve default permission
The best you can do is to restore your last full system backup.

Re: Rtrieve default permission
Hi:
I think you are stuck restoring your /etc/passwd and /etc/group files along with all of the directories and files you changed. Hopefully you're backups are current and changes in the affected directories have been at a minimum. Good luck.

Re: Rtrieve default permission
Hi,
Restoring files from your latest backup seems to be the only way of having all file permissions restored to their original settings.
Best regards,
Dan
