Does the On-Board RAID Hardware option require a full card and cables or is it just a chip?
Cost prohbitive?

Re: RX6600 - Full with SAS - Use LVM/VxVM RAID/Mirroring or Hardware RAID
How do I carve my Mirrored pair with a hot spare?
Do I do it under an EFI util?
By 2 mirroed pairs - do you mean 2 pairs of disks plus a spare each?
Is it configured similary to a PERC controller on Dells or Smart Array COntrolers on Poorliants?
Thanks.

http://docs.hp.com/en/J6369-90071/index.html
Some configurations are possible on- or offline, see
http://docs.hp.com/en/J6369-90071/ch04s04.html#v1692729
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: RX6600 - Full with SAS - Use LVM/VxVM RAID/Mirroring or Hardware RAID
Actually found the docu last night. I was able to create under EFI drvcfg 2 Mirrors with a hotspaer each on sasd0 and sasd1. SO I giess my OS is not protected and I have another mirrorset for my DRD or alternate boot.
Now how do I monitorthe health of my array/mirror-sets? Is there an EMS thingy within BaseOE 11.31? Or do I have to write a script to use "sasmgr" to periodically check on the health of the mirrors?
Thanks!

Re: RX6600 - Full with SAS - Use LVM/VxVM RAID/Mirroring or Hardware RAID
But this machine - intended to be used as NetBackup 6.5 Master/Media Server runs BOE March 2008. I think EMS is still an add-on or available only with the higher releases.
I was hoping there's now a free System Fault Management thingy with 11.31 that's different from EMS

Since march (I think) SFM is the default, but you can also switch back to online diagnostics.
Hope this helps!
