SAM and Oracle Universal Installer behaving ODD

Hi, everyone,
For some reason, when I launch SAM or Oracle Universal installer using X-windows, they behave very odd. I don't understand why.
I don't see the NEXT button on the installer, the installer gets stuck at one location and gives a white-screen for the window when I go to other windows and come back.

In SAM, it shows WHITE scroll bars for horizontal and vertical scroll bars indicating that it requires more memory or something.

I'm on hp-ux 11.11 model: hp-9000 (rp3440).

ps: I can use the same CD on other unix-based servers and launch the installer immediately without glitches.

Specs of the problem server: 8GB RAM, Single Processor 1000MHZ, Swap Space: Used: 191 MB, Free: 3905MB.

Can anybody think of anything offhand.

Kernel parameters like shmmax, shmmni etc. have been increased, too. No luck!

Re: SAM and Oracle Universal Installer behaving ODD

Hi,

If you are using hummingbird exceed to get the X windows, you can try this link,

http://www.hummingbird.com/support/nc/exceed/ex60322.html?searchType=Basic&searchText=oracle%20installar&rank=5

Looks into the exceed help sections.

Hope this helps.

Re: SAM and Oracle Universal Installer behaving ODD

Hi,

Could you please run
/usr/contrib/bin/X11/dr_dt
and check its output
Additinally look at network status by
lanadmin
And, finally, if you use NIS, look at its status as well.

Re: SAM and Oracle Universal Installer behaving ODD

After checking the log and After I copied the /var/adm/inetd.sec, which was missing, from a similar server and edited the file to replace the hostname with the right hostname,
I got:

Dr_dt finished with:

0 ERROR messages
1 WARNING messages - regarding / directory

drwxr-xr-x 25 root root 8192 Jan 22 14:30

lanadmin:
I did NOT know what to check under lanadmin, but did a 'display' under lanadmin. Results:

Re: SAM and Oracle Universal Installer behaving ODD

Hi,

Remove .dt directory under the homedir of the user which you use ( root ?). After the nest startup check errorlog under this directory.
BTW, which X-application do you use ? Exceed ?

Re: SAM and Oracle Universal Installer behaving ODD

I'm using Reflection X, not exceed.

I removed the .dt directory and error_log:
