What is the purpose of SAM Builder?

Restricted SAM Builder allows you to build a SAM menu for a user that he/she can invoke from their own user ID. This menu that they invoke is known as Restricted SAM.

This is usually used to allow Help Desk type personnell to set up user, change passwords, reactivate accounts (in a trusted system), etc.

It is handy to have this set up in a trusted system so that someone can go in and unlock the root account should one inadvertantly lock it up and not be able to log in as root.

"Sam Builder" allows you (root) to construct a "restricted" SAM environment wherein you can confer selected privileges (functions) to non-root users. For more information, type 'man sam'.
