SAM Kernel Tunable Parameters gone!
In SAM when we go to the kernel tunable parameters window, it says retrieving current kernel configuration, and then returns a blank window.
No parameters are shown! Worked fine before.
Any patches fixing this, any possible reason coming to mind?
Really appreciate any help.

Re: SAM Kernel Tunable Parameters gone!
1)What OS
2)What is in the samlog when you try this
see view samlog
3)Is there anything in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log at the time you did this
Could be a system parameter too low
4)Try it when the system is quiet to see if it works then

Re: SAM Kernel Tunable Parameters gone!
what about creating a new kernel in /stand/build and then reboot ?
Maybe the old kernel got a little bit trouble :-)

Re: SAM Kernel Tunable Parameters gone!
Thanks for the replies.
The samlog for the concerned issue is attached
I also found an HP document recommending to reinstall the SAM cumulative patch if the latest is already installed.
We have the latest one installed which also has warnings, is it ok to proceed with reinstalling this?
PHCO_27375 s700_800 11.00 cumulative SAM/ObAM patch
The documnet had another resolution which I tried first, as follows.
_____________________________
# mv /var/sam/boot.config /var/sam/boot.config.old
# /usr/sam/lbin/getkinfo -b
Now, logout of the system and back in. Open SAM back up and check
the "configurable parameters" section.
______________________________
But this had no effect.

Re: SAM Kernel Tunable Parameters gone!
do kmtune -l and sysdef work
Otherwise suggest checking permissions on /stand/vmunix

Re: SAM Kernel Tunable Parameters gone!
These can be restored from an fbackup or other backup tape.

Re: SAM Kernel Tunable Parameters gone!
Have you looked behind the couch?
Or, if you'd prefer a serious answer, have you installed any kernel patches recently?
Check the date on /stand/vmunix.prev to see if it is recent. If so, it may be worth booting from it and checking if the fault is still there.

Re: SAM Kernel Tunable Parameters gone!
The HP document I referred to in my previous post DOC ID: USAMKBRC00010355
http://www4.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000063198799
I might just try reinstalling the patch PHCO_27375. But since it has a warning, shouldn't be a problem though, right?
/stand/system exists. Also I've been told some java patches had been installed recently.

Re: SAM Kernel Tunable Parameters gone!
What about
Check the permissions on /usr/conf/master.d
# cd /usr/conf
# ll|grep master
dr-xr-xr-x 2 bin bin 1024 Mar 21 12:11 master.d
If permissions are not the same as above, make the changes and then try SAM
again. Otherwise, proceed to step 3.
Did you check that.
Do you see any errors
Do kmtune and sysdef work as I already asked

Re: SAM Kernel Tunable Parameters gone!
The permissions were fine
hp11 #ll -d /usr/conf/master*
dr-xr-xr-x 2 bin bin 1024 Oct 22 2002 /usr/conf/master.d
As for the commands you suggested, one gives an error
hp11 #kmtune -l
kmtune: Cannot open file -- /stand/.kmsystune_lock
hp11 #kmtune -l
kmtune: Cannot open file -- /stand/.kmsystune_lock
The other
hp11 #sysdef work
