Sam Problem

Hi,
When I go into Backup and Recovery in SAM and try to do a Interactive Backup/Recovery.SAM gives me the below error when scanning for the Harware device for BAckup DeviceSAM internal error.
'The error handler has gotten the error code 1 of type NOTE with the associated strings: 8/12.3.0 QUANTUM DLT8000'

After that the Backup is OK but still I can't figure out why the error.

We had replaced this DLT8000 recently.

Re: Sam Problem

Hi,

have a look at the following for (hopefully) more information:
/var/tmp/SAM_br_msgs
/var/sam/log/br_log
mailbox of root

Personally i dislike SAM backup & recovery because of the lack of logging, no filelist, no tapenumbering, ... There are many advantages in using custom scripts (I believe some scripts already have been dumped in these forums).

regards,
Thierry.
All unix flavours are exactly the same . . . . . . . . . . for end users anyway.

Re: Sam Problem

most likely cause is listed in TLKB DOC ID : KBRC00001924

below is a relevant extract .....

The problem is that the Quantum DLT8000 is not listed in/usr/sam/lib/C/pd_devinfo.tx. Add the following lines to the file to
resolve the problem:

Re: Sam Problem

Hi Aggy:

Get SAM patch PHCO_23876 from the ITRC patch database and install it. This will fix the DLT8000 error SAM is reporting. A reboot is *not* required to install this patch.

Regards!
