HP/UX 10.10, am getting a problem when attempting to add a user to the system via sam:
Failed to add the user "fred". An invalid argument was supplied to an option in the command "/usr/sam/lbin/useradd.sam"
Directly running useradd seems to work OK, although it subsequently requires adjusting the password file entry to tidy things up.
/home permissions are 755 root:root
/etc/.pwd.lock exists
The new user has /usr/bin/csh as its shell, has a unique user id, and shows nothing else out of the ordinary.

Re: Sam "Add users"
Yes, the users log into a communal directory where they use a shared .login setup.

Re: Sam "Add users"
Just tried your suggestion out (fixing the group permission on the home directory) and it now creates users correctly.
Thanks for your help. :-)
