I've been trying to get Samba working on HPUX, but can't get the daemons running.
I've downloaded the following packages: -
Samba 3.0.10
libiconv 1.9.2
openldap 2.2.20
openssl 0.9.7e
All of them in depot format. I've installed them via swinstall with no errors.
I try and start the smbd daemon, and ended up with the following errors: -
dld.sl can't access: -
liblber.sl.2 and libldap.sl.2
So I nicked these 2 files from the Apache install that I had, and put them in the correct place.
Now when I try and start the daemon, I get nothing at all, no error message, no entry in syslog to say why it didn't start, and no smbd daemon running.
I can get into swat to have a look at the configuration, and can edit smb.conf via SWAT, or from command line. This works fine, I can run the testparam prog OK with no errors.
I just cant seem to get the daemons running.
Anyone got any advice on what might be wrong, or somthing that I might have miseed.

Re: Samba 3.0.10 on HPUX 11i
Because of this, I don't have a log file in /var or /opt, as the whole install tree is under /usr/local/samba
I've been looking for a log file but can't find one. (very frustrating!!!)
I've just tried the HP version to see if it works, to make sure that everything else is OK, and it works fine. But the problem is this is not supported under our project.
Any clues?

As far as logs, what is in your smb.conf file?
Does swat work?

Re: Samba 3.0.10 on HPUX 11i
The smb.conf file was prity basic. I stated off with not having one, and using SWAT (port 901) to configure a basic setup.
Think I've given up with the version of Samba that I down loaded, it just dosen't seem to work on HP. I've had it working on Linux just fine.
