SAMBA/CIFS AND NIS/UNIX PASSWORD SYNC
Dear Learned Folks on Samba/CIFS ,
We use NIS. One of the NIS Client is our Samba Server. smb.conf file has options to achieve the Samba/Unix password sync. I an UNSUCCESSFUL so far to achieve that. i.e. whenever the user changes his Samba PAssword by issuing smbpasswd command or from GUI, the Unix password automatically gets changed.
Can anybody throw some light on how to make it happen ? In case you already have a working setup like this, then please provide me the guidence on smb.conf parameters etc.
Thanking you in advance.

Re: SAMBA/CIFS AND NIS/UNIX PASSWORD SYNC
Hi,
If you're using 11.00 you might want to set the "passwd program" entry in smb.conf to "/bin/passwd -r nis".
HTH.
Regards,
Vincent
