Hi Expert,
I have installed and configured Samba(2.0.7) on HPUX 11.0 as Domain Controller with roaming profile users. Clients are Win98, WinNT/2k.
Please let me know, How can I grant permission for Domain Users for broadcasting messages using "net send" across the domain.
Is there any parameter as "domain admin users/group" to be defined in the Global Section of "smb.conf".
Yours valuable inputs are highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Rajesh

Re: Samba Domain users needs to broadcast the message.
I think you should publish the process you went through to make Samba a Domain Controller. I've seen guides, but its still very interesting work.
With regard to net send, I'm not familiar with that protocol.
What port does it use? Does it use a messenger product or some other Microsoft Service.
With more detail myself or one of the really smart people will be able to help you.

Solution
Hi Rajesh,
Samba 2.0.7 is quite an old version (I think it's from mid 2000.) The current CIFS release is A.01.10 which is based on Samba 2.2.8a.
There is a "domain admin group" global parameter available - this might not be present in such an old version however.
In Samba releases from 2.2 there's a pair of documents on PDC creation and usage that might help you further, but I really believe you'll have to upgrade before you go any further!
regards,
Darren.

Calm down. It's only ones and zeros...

Re: Samba Domain users needs to broadcast the message.
Hi,
Thanks for you quick response on this.
I agree, there is domain group option, I will confirm whether it is valid for 2.0.7 version.
Cheers,
Rajesh
