Samba fresh install driving me nuts!
Hi all,
Having just done a swintsall of samba 2.07 on a 10.20 box and followed (i hope) instructions i am getting following error when i do a smbclient -L HOST
added interface ip=125.36.144.184 bcast=125.36.151.255 nmask=255.255.248.0
read_socket_with_timeout: timeout read. read error = Connection reset by peer.
session request to NIDO failed (code 0)
read_socket_with_timeout: timeout read. read error = Connection reset by peer.
session request to *SMBSERVER failed (code 0)
Any ideas? Remeber type slowly when you respond i am a little slow at this stuff.
Thanks
Matt
PS Tried hosts.allow wasnt sure where to put it or what to put in it though :(

Re: Samba fresh install driving me nuts!
Hi,
Are the smbd and nmbd daemons running?
What type of "security" level did you set in smb.conf: share, server, user or domain? Did you define a share to which you can connect?
To debug the server processes, set "debug level" to 3 in smb.conf. Then tail -f the log file while you connect using smbclient.
