Re: samba on HP

Hi,

CIFS 9000 is hp version of samba. You can download this from the link given by Harry.

If you've already samba files in opt samba thne why do you need one..?

HP's samba ( cifs) easy to install and configure and you can get HP's support.
If you want to install cifs then you got to stop and remove existing samba.

Documentation is available in hp's doc site docs.hp.com and look for "Installing and configure the CIFS/9000

Re: samba on HP

Once you have samba loaded (either what you have or after installing CIFS server), samba is really easy to configure using the gui interface. I would suggest going to the bookstore and buying the O'Reily "Using Samba" book; it explains all the config options and how to set them. You can look at it online too http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/samba/index.html
but the hard copy is better. Basically, you start everything up and then go to, in your web browser,

http://localhost:901

and log in as root. it's all there and easy to follow with on-line help.
