Samba, PAM & password changes

We have PAM installed on our hpux servers using the NT domain for authentication. Today's forced password change is still using the old password file for SAMBA authentication. The new SAMBA config file, that utilizes PAM, will not authenticate properly. How do I get SAMBA to use the new parameters in the smb.conf file?

Re: Samba, PAM & password changes

You're going to need LDAP. Here is a good link discussing the subject:

Re: Samba, PAM & password changes

To get Samba to re-read it's config file, send it a HUP signal (kill -15 ).

Do a man on smb.conf to get all of the password authentication details.

Take a look at www.samba.org - there are a number of links there on how to use this product.
