samba
Hi All,
I have a J6000/HP-UX 10.20 with Samba 2.0.7 running in it.
It has been found that there are entries in /var/opt/samba/log.smb:
"[2003/10/15 17:12:48, 0] printing/pcap.c:(366)
Unable to open printcap file /etc/printcap for read!
[2003/10/15 17:12:48, 1] smbd/server.c:(641)
smbd version 2.0.7 started.

[2003/10/15 17:12:48, 0] printing/pcap.c:(366)
Unable to open printcap file /etc/printcap for read!"
There is no printer configured in J6000 nor there is any file /etc/printcap. Why is there the message "Unable to open printcap file /etc/printcap for read!" What needs to be done to remove this message?
The log.smb file is also growing and I want to trim this file.
# cd /var/opt/samba
# cat /dev/null > log.smb
Will this help or is there some other procedure for it?
Thanks,

Re: samba
Add this entry in the smb.conf "Global settings" section
printcap name = /etc/printcap
Restart your smbd.
printcap name = /etc/printcap
Restart your smbd.
