Hallo,
I have a cluster platform with mc/service guard.
I want to give a same hostname to one node and the package.
for exemple node 1 name xxxxxx
node 2 name yyyyyy
package name xxxxxx
I want to know if mc/service guard will support it.
I need your help

Re: same name to one node and pakcage
the idea here is to have your 2 unique node names tied to their local ip and the pkg 'node name' tied to the floating ip. Your application will be associated with that floating ip/node name.
Why is it that you need to configure the node w/ the same hostname as the pkg?

Re: same name to one node and pakcage
Hi
The answer is yes and no. Within service Guard you can (within reason) call the package what you like, so you could call the package the same name as the one of the hosts. The problem comes with the floating IP address. it is _USUAL_ for the floating IP to be the same as the package name. NOW if you do this tehre will be a problem in IP & Name resolution.
Bottom line it is a bad idea. I HAVE had a situation where a host say dbsvr1 had a service & at a later date we wanted to service guard it. I made the hostName dbsvr1 & IP addrsss the package name & floating IP. I changed the server's hostname to dbsvr1a & had a second server dbsvr1b & bingo, every one was happy, as MOST people were used to contacting dbsvr1 and they still do so.
So my _ADVICE_ is not to do this, but it is; with some caveats; feasable, but is not wise!!!
Regards
Tim
