SAN BOX

Hi,
Currently we are having HP AutoRAID with L-2000 Server and now AutoRAID, we want to replace with IBM SAN. What care we should take while creating PV, VG and LVs.
I mean do I need to set the parameters other than default while creating PV, VG And LVs.

Thanks.

Re: SAN BOX

For logical volumes, you need to investigate with IBM if you should turn off "bad block relocation".

Re: SAN BOX

You must check that IBM SAN is support from HP.
Even you can create VG and wotk on them it is not mean HP support that storage.
There are tools like STM and EMS that must be work right with that storage.

Re: SAN BOX

If the IBM array is supported once disks are presented by world wide name to the fiber card, its just like any other disk.

On certain non-HP arrays the number of luns possible to present to a single fiber card is limited to 8 luns.

This can be very annoying. It could be a show stopper if you are currently presenting more than 8 luns to a single fiber card.

Two cents worth: Life is much easier if you get HP to provide the high performance storage arrays for your HP servers... (a happy XP1024 and XP512 customer).
