SAN Device files

Hi,

We have two rp7420's running 11.11, and ServiceGuard as a primary/standby cluster. Attached via FC adapters to SAN EVA's with various Luns presented.
We will be replacing the FC adapters in one of the cluster nodes. This will affect SAN zoning on the switches, and EVA luns will require representation. Virtual disks will be the same as before the FC change.
Will the change of FC adapters cause HPUX to see the disk devices with new names, or will the old ones remain?

thanks, Greg

Re: SAN Device files

Greg,

As long as you zone correctly, the old ones should remain. Disk device files on a SAN are governed by the location of the *storage* on the SAN, not the host HBAs.

If you were to move the storage to another port then the device files would probably change (depending on your FC switch vendor). If you move the storage to an entirely seperate switch, the device files would almost definately change.
