SAP and HP UX

Hello

Can anyone tell me if Is it viable to install SAP and its modules (mostly all) on a machine with HP UX B 11.11, for a company with about 700 users.

Thank you for your answers.

Re: SAP and HP UX

Viable?

Depends.

Why would you want to install on HP-UX 11.11?

11.31 is so much better at handling I/O and memory.

Basically, do a SAP sizing excersie and find out how many SAPS you need - then HP can recommend the properply sized server for you.

Re: SAP and HP UX

Some of the largest companies in the world run SAP on HPUX 11.11 without much problem. Further, there is a LOT of older/cheaper PA-RISC hardware on the market, so it may be quite a bargain for your company. Just be careful about getting the right size server for your needs.

This is more of a database issue than an application issue. From a systems administration point of view, SAP is a lead-pipe cinch to support. What DB are you going to use on the back end?

Re: SAP and HP UX

I agree with Geoff Wild.
1st do the sizing for SAPS for 700 users. Use that one for hardware sizing.

SUN, AIX, HPUX etc all working well for SAP and support SAP modules.

Basically, people going for SUN, HPUX or AIX based upon local support for those vendor and internal technical Strength. Obviously donâ t forget about hardware cost.

Re: SAP and HP UX

thank you everybody for you answers

1- to Geoff: i want to install ERP-SAP on HPUX B 11.11 because that is the actual version of our operating system at our company and we are trying to shorten the budget for the project (Software and harware cost) ..because as you know that kind of projects of changing the whole ERP is quite expensive.

2- As Chris says, I am going to have to make a further study with HP to find out if the actual hardware will be worth for our SAP-project.

The database is a UNIFY DATASERVER 8.3 R I, does anyone know if I can continue using the same engine with SAP?
