Hello,
will network traffic be impaired or interrupted if I configure the switch port and server NIC settings at both ends to a fixed "100 Mbps FD noauto" with running connections?
You see, I cannot afford to disrupt established connections from clients to this database server.
Or in other words, should this action require a database downtime, or at least a time of low traffic?

Solution
Weve changed ours in the past during normal production hours, but if you have heavy usage and have to ensure no disruption I would at least do it at a time of low traffic, just to be safe.
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...

Re: Save to configure server NIC's and switch port 's duplex, speed settings online?
Recommend you not do this at a time when the traffic is heavy. There have been instances where the switch and the NIC do not work together with this configuration. Or, the switch and NIC do not negotiate properly. Problems have been tracked to NIC driver and/or switch issues.
