Savecrash images stored

Savecrash copies the memory image in /var/adm/crash when system booting and old images stored there. Finally file system is full. Is it right and I must remove old images for cleaning disk spaces?

Re: Savecrash images stored

Hi,
Yes, /var/adm/crash is used to store memory images when system craches. If you don't plan to use them (for debugging) you can remove them.

I suggest you repost this over in the HP-UX forum. The pirahnas over there will send you about a dozen posts in an hour and give you answers that every Unix box back to the 60's.

If you need to analyze those nice crash images, here is a cookbook.

Re: Savecrash images stored

Attached find the document to answer recovery from crash dumps and to analyze crash files.

You may delete the dump files in case you have finished your analysis of why your system crashed.

Alternatively you may keep the latest crash dump and delete the others.

Re: Savecrash images stored

Hi,

You don't need to keep your old images. I prefer to keep the last two ones. But everytime the core is generated, run Q4 and save the analysis files though.
