Hello All,
Trying to figure out why after system reboot, the startup files have problems? I first noticed the system hostname was not set.
I ran "set_parms hostname" and it seem to be ok, but after reboot it became "unknown" again. I took a look at the /etc/rc.log and noticed several other files in /sbin/init.d
were having problems also. Is there somewhere
on the system maybe a shell or something is not being set correctly ?

Solution
I know nothing, but ...
> # ll S*
"ls -lL S*" might be interesting, too. A
link to nowhere won't do much. Comparison
with another, similar system may be helpful
(testdrive.hp.com?).
> [...] /usr/sbin/lsdev: not found

Are these things happening before /usr is
mounted?
> /etc/vx/lib/vxcommon: not found
That looks bad. What happened to it?

Re: /sbin/rc1.d/S091vxvm-nodes-check[4]: /usr/sbin/lsdev: not found
>Steven: Are these things happening before /usr is mounted?
Yes, that seems like the problem. On my system:
/sbin/rc1.d/S080crashconf@
/sbin/rc1.d/S091vxvm-nodes-check@
/sbin/rc1.d/S092vxvm-startup@
/sbin/rc1.d/S093vxvm-reconfig@
/sbin/rc1.d/S100localmount@
/sbin/rc1.d/S320hostname@
So I can't see how it would ever work in general. Only since everything is in / here, are there no rc.log errors for me.
That script seems all messed up. Instead of /usr/sbin/lsdev it should use /sbin/lsdev.
Perhaps Jerry shouldn't be looking behind the green curtain? :-)

Re: /sbin/rc1.d/S091vxvm-nodes-check[4]: /usr/sbin/lsdev: not found
Hello All,
One of my co-workers helped to resolve the problem. We found a new installation of
HP APA ( aupt-port_aggr ). Strange, but we had to debug the /etc/rc.config file, and noticed that the an error was comming from
/etc/rc.config.d/hpbtlanconf ? Very wierd, but seems inside this file "" were missing
ex: HP_BTLAN_INTERFACE_NAME[0]="lan0"
System seem fine now.
