SCM and netscape issue
I use ServiceControl Manager (SCM) on our HPUX servers so that the support teams can create accounts without needing root privildge. SCM wasn't working the other day when I came in and displayed the error:
"An error occurred while attempting to establish a connection to the repository"
I found the solution for this in the SCM technical reference (page 297) telling me to check to see if the Netscape slapd is running. (it wasn't) and i followed HP's instruction to re-install netscape (slapd was fixed by doing this) but SCM still won't run. I'm waiting on HP's response but I thought I'd give you guys here a chance for some (well earned) points too.

Re: SCM and netscape issue
even with HP's help I was never able to fix the problem. Fortunately we were planning on migrating ServiceControl Manager to another server. -this just sped the process up. On the bright side the new server is faster with more RAM. :) oh well...
-if you can't win the game... change the rules! :)
