SCM and netscape issue

Thought I'd throw this out here while I was waiting on HP to get back to me.

I use ServiceControl Manager (SCM) on our HPUX servers so that the support teams can create accounts without needing root privildge. SCM wasn't working the other day when I came in and displayed the error:

"An error occurred while attempting to establish a connection to the repository"

I found the solution for this in the SCM technical reference (page 297) telling me to check to see if the Netscape slapd is running. (it wasn't) and i followed HP's instruction to re-install netscape (slapd was fixed by doing this) but SCM still won't run. I'm waiting on HP's response but I thought I'd give you guys here a chance for some (well earned) points too.

Re: SCM and netscape issue

I havn't had any problems until now. One of the guys on the storage team was doing some work this past weekend and another guy on our (unix) team installed a new version of ignite. And somehow things got frelled up. Great product though.

Re: SCM and netscape issue

However, I'd appreciate if you'ld post the solution (just in order to be prepared- never know who's the next one to hit this).

Re: SCM and netscape issue

Good idea -I'll be sure to do that. So far it looks like my netscape server is corrupted. I'm going to try a restore today. I'll keep you informed

Re: SCM and netscape issue

update-
even with HP's help I was never able to fix the problem. Fortunately we were planning on migrating ServiceControl Manager to another server. -this just sped the process up. On the bright side the new server is faster with more RAM. :) oh well...
-if you can't win the game... change the rules! :)
