Hi,
I've been experiencing hangs when accessing a disk. It's a L1000 under 11i. It's one of the internal disks. The thing is that I have already replaced the disk, but again the same disk (when you see it under xstm) presents 'unable to extract information' even though I can do a verify and a stress test both successfull. I don't know if it's an SCSI card issue because there's another disk under the same controller working fine. I have attached the syslog for you to have a better view of the problem.
When the disk is idle no problems are reported but as soon there's some amount of IO the problem appears.
Thank you all in advance...

Re: SCSI and disk issue and Oracle 8i
I was experiencing similar problems/error messages on a D210 box a few years ago, we replaced just about everything. Finally at wits end our HP tech replaced the simpilest part.. the internal SCSI cable. That worked like a charm.

Solution
I have had the same problem in my L and N class machines.
The response center told me they have microcode problem with the 18 GB internal seagate drives. Try to do a /etc/diskinfo -v /dev/rdsk/c#t#d#. Then check the rev level. The drives that I can read are at rev level HP05

Re: SCSI and disk issue and Oracle 8i
Hi Manuel,
check you SCSI cabling and termination. If this is on a shared bus with another system, check for a clash of SCSI ID's. If there is another disk on the same channel and if that other disk is working fine, try to change the slot of this disk (if it is in an enclosure). If nothing else works, change the disk.
Hope this helps.
