Re: SCSI Gross Error

Really hard to read this format ;-(

I would prefer to connect disks and tapes not to the same channel.
What server model do you have?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

hello
i'm really sorry for the bad format.
this is my problem back:
when trying to check the syslog.log for maintenance purpose on a hp-ux server, i have found the following error:

Jun 7 12:12:03 imisbr2 vmunix: SCSI: Ultra160 Controller at 0/1/1/1: Error: The domain validation test for target 3 determined that communication may not be possible to this target. Verify the hardware configuration.isrEscape Controller at 0/1/1/1.

Jun 7 12:12:10 imisbr2 vmunix: SCSI:

Jun 7 12:12:10 imisbr2 vmunix: SCSI: Parity error -- lbolt: 269115296, dev: cb033002
Jun 7 12:12:10 imisbr2 vmunix: lbp->state: 30008
Jun 7 12:12:10 imisbr2 vmunix: lbp->offset: 270

after investigating and troubleshooting we found using the ioscan command on the path "0/1/1/1" the following:

0/1/1/1 ext_bus SCSI C1010 Ultra160 Wide LVD
0/1/1/1.3 target
0/1/1/1.3.0 tape HP C5683A
0/1/1/1.7 target
0/1/1/1.7.0 ctl Initiator

the tape specified on the above ioscan is an external DDS4 tape dirve. we tried to use the tape for backup tasks and everything has gone well.
