Re: SCSI Tape drive
Please post again, it is still not readable.
However, there is no tape listed.
Tell the model of the server, of the tape and how/where it is connected.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: SCSI Tape drive
I was bored enough to take the time to straighten the ioscan listing:

4 CPU cores, integrated VGA controller (disabled in HP-UX), not too many PCI-X bus adapters... looks like a rp3440.
It seems to have a SmartArray 6402 RAID controller card in the 0/2/1/0 PCI-X slot (slot 3, counting from the top).
Is the tape drive connected to this card?
The RAID controller may have external SCSI connectors, but as the data goes through the RAID hardware processor, those connectors would be best for connecting disks only.
I've heard that at least some SmartArray controllers have a bypass mode for accessing the disks directly, but it's apparently designed for things like hardware diagnostics and disk firmware updates only: it may not perform well enough for a high-speed tape drive, like DLT or LTO. HP does not recommend connecting tape drives to SmartArray controllers, anyway.
There should be a SCSI connector in bottom left corner of the server's rear panel (not in a PCI-X card slot).
Try connecting the tape drive there: it should appear with a hardware path like 0/1/1/1.x.y, with x being the SCSI ID of the tape drive.

Re: SCSI Tape drive
There is this smartarray 6402 in slot 3, the internal scsi controllers
ext_bus 2 0/1/1/0 c8xx CLAIMED INTERFACE SCSI C1010 Ultra160 Wide LVD
ext_bus 3 0/1/1/1 c8xx CLAIMED INTERFACE SCSI C1010 Ultra160 Wide LVD
are unused. So you can use the built-in external scsi port (would be on h/w path 0/1/1/1.x.y).

Not in general. Sometimes the smartarray is the only way to connect a tape drive (e.g. a SAS tape to a rx2800i2 via the P411). On the other hand most older smartarray controllers doesn't support tape drives or libraries at all.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: SCSI Tape drive
You should see 3 external scsi ports.
2 on the right hand side in slot 3 (third from top - this is the smartarray controller), 1 on the left hand side (this is the built-in controller).
Connect the tape to the built-in controller.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: SCSI Tape drive
You need a different scsi cable or a different scsi controller.
If you connect your tape drive to the same bus as the disks with the same scsi id as one of the disks, you hang the bus and the entire system. You don't see the tape drive, because it is not supported!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
