on target machines which have HP OpenView Software Distributor
installed. To perform this operation, first run the HP
OpenView Software distributor pushAgent(1m).
* Target connection failed for "unix1:/".

What version of ignite are you using?

The newest can be found here:
http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/download.html

Also, do you have the last patch bundle installed?

Re: SD-UX Problem...on 10.20

This is due to
1. hostname resolution problems.
check whether is machine is able to resolve
#nslookup
If you are not using DNS then check your local /etc/hosts file for proper entries.

2.Try restarting your swagentd
swagentd -r

Re: SD-UX Problem...on 10.20

I have done a nslookup here is the output hostname is unix1 and IP for machine is 192.168.3.22

# nslookup unix1
Name Server: bdcviatel02.viatel.com
Address: 192.168.3.95

Name: unix1.viatel.com
Address: 192.168.3.22

Hosts file looks like this:

192.168.3.22 unix1
135.196.66.22 unix1 unix10
#192.168.3.62 gate62
#192.168.3.25 unix1_default
127.0.0.1 localhost loopback

Re: SD-UX Problem...on 10.20

Kevin,

Your hosts file appears to have to entries for unix1:

192.168.3.22 unix1
135.196.66.22 unix1 unix10

I think that might be a problem.

Re: SD-UX Problem...on 10.20

well when I did a pushAgent I specified the actual IP address and it still didnt like it...Ive just tried..

# nslookup
Default Name Server: bdcviatel02.viatel.com
Address: 192.168.3.95

> server 192.168.3.95
Default Name Server: bdcviatel02.viatel.com
Address: 192.168.3.95

> unix1
Name Server: bdcviatel02.viatel.com
Address: 192.168.3.95

Name: unix1.viatel.com
Address: 192.168.3.22

> 192.168.3.22
Name Server: bdcviatel02.viatel.com
Address: 192.168.3.95

*** bdcviatel02.viatel.com can't find 192.168.3.22: Non-existent domain

So its obviously not resolving the IP...how do I get round this ?!?!

Kevin,

What does your hosts entry in /etc/nsswitch.conf look like?
