Second NIC at HP server - part 2

Ok, I configured the NIC using the SAM. The network segments are differents. But when I try to reset the LAN card using the lanadmin I have received the following error message:
"reset - expected primitive 0x06, got DL_ERROR_ACK
dl_error_primitive=0xe8
dl_error=0x04
dl_unix_errno=5
Unable to reset LAN interface"
The administration status is up, but the operational status is down (the network cable is connected and actived). These drivers were installed B5497AA_APZ 100BT/9000 EISA and J2655AA_APZ 100VG-AnyLan/9000 EISA. One more thing, I have two servers with the same configuration, both have the same problem.
What is the problem?
Thanx

I replied to the other contact to start with.
The configuration that we have that works is using an 10 base Ethernet for one connection and 100 base for the other.
I do not have any knowledge about 100VG, but have to guess that is where the problem lies.

# grep 5 /usr/include/sys/errno.h

#define EIO 5 /* I/O error

I think you may be having problems with your speed setting, perhaps on the switch?

What does
#lanadmin -x NMID return? Is this consistent with your switch setting? Are you patched? I believe the VG Anylan card will only run 10MB unless it is on a VG Anylan hub or module.

Re: Second NIC at HP server - part 2

Hi I found this, it may help

"The 100VG lan card should not be confused with a 100BT lan card. It should function normally as a 10mb ethernet card. Or at 100mb if connected to a 100VG hub/switch. If you try to connect a 100VG card to a 100BT hub/switch you will not get a link. 100BT is ieee standard 802.3u while 100VG is not this standard. I think it is 802.12?"
