Secure Path and PV links

Hi all,
I have a new EVA8000 as the storage for our development SAN and have recently attached a rp7420 running secure path 3.0F for active/active arrays.
When I look at "autopath display" I can see 8 paths to the disk and ioscan also shows the same 8 paths. My VGs just have one path specified.
My question is - Is Secure Path intelligent enough that my VGs are resilient with just one of the paths added or do I still need to vgextend the other seven as alternate PV paths?
