secure path functionality in pvlinks

Has anyone heard that the auto path load balancing functionality of secure path is to be included in pvlinks via a patch for 11iv2 or even 11iv3 ?

Re: secure path functionality in pvlinks

Hi Tim,

a patch for 11.23 is very, very unlikely, but it is built-in for 11.31.

11.31 is not really using pvlinks, it is all in the new mass storage stack.

Read:

http://docs.hp.com/en/oshpux11iv3.html#Storage%20Area%20Management

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Hi Tim,

Haven't heard about any patches but have seen this on Page 8

http://www.docs.hp.com/en/MassStorageStack/The_Next_Generation_Mass_Storage_Stack.pdf

And also Geoff Wilds' response in this thread with a couple of other links to docs.

Re: secure path functionality in pvlinks

Ever since PHKL_34094(v2) we have seen this behavior where the IO's are coming down both paths. Problem is that our old array is only Active/Passive and this causes much overhead. It appears that the old functionality of PVLINKS to manage Active/Passive Arrays can not longer be used after that patch. (see below)

CR# JAGag26044
problem LVM cumulative patches PHKL_34518 (HP-UX 11.11) and PHKL_34094 (HP-UX 11.23) can cause excessive LUN trespassing on
some third party disk arrays configurations.
