Secure Path installation problems
We are trying to install the Secure Path software in our new HP-UX server (rp44xx). The installation fails complaining that the Fibre channel adapters and drivers are not installed on this server.
However, from the ioscan output we can the devices been claimed as follows...
#ioscan -fnkCfc
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
=================================================================
fc 0 0/3/1/0 fcd CLAIMED INTERFACE HP 2Gb Dual Port PCI/PCI-X Fibre Channel Adapter (Port 1)
/dev/fcd0
fc 1 0/3/1/1 fcd CLAIMED INTERFACE HP 2Gb Dual Port PCI/PCI-X Fibre Channel Adapter (Port 2)
/dev/fcd1
fc 2 0/4/1/0 fcd CLAIMED INTERFACE HP 2Gb Dual Port PCI/PCI-X Fibre Channel Adapter (Port 1)
/dev/fcd2
fc 3 0/4/1/1 fcd CLAIMED INTERFACE HP 2Gb Dual Port PCI/PCI-X Fibre Channel Adapter (Port 2)
/dev/fcd3
On comparing with another server (rp54xx), we are able to see the following output which is using a different driver.
#ioscan -fnkCfc
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
=================================================================
fc 0 0/8/0/0 td CLAIMED INTERFACE HP Tachyon XL2 Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapter
/dev/td0
fc 1 0/9/0/0 td CLAIMED INTERFACE HP Tachyon XL2 Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapter
/dev/td1
We believe this is the cause of the installation failure. On checking the swlist -l products we are able to see the subsets for the FC_TACHYON_TL in both servers.
We need help on how to make the system use the right driver.
Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Re: Secure Path installation problems
Theres about 5 patches that are needed, do you have all the patches on your server?
I've never tried to install it on a dual ported FC card. We have it installed on 3 servers that have the Tachyon XL2's like the server that you have that works.

Re: Secure Path installation problems
Maybe you can find information in
http://www.hp.com/products1/serverconnectivity/storagesnf2/multifunction_adapters/multifunction.html
and
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/netcom/index.html#Combination%20Cards

Re: Secure Path installation problems
Thanks for the responses. We ran through the installation script and I found that the script was a bit buggy only checking whether the card is one of the types "XL2 / TL/TS".
So, I did the other required checks and installed the right depot manually and now everything is fine.
Thanks any way for the support.
