Securepath shows only 3 paths insteady of 4 for a LUN

HP-UX hxx1 B.11.11 U 9000/800 3143982623 unlimited-user license
model rp3440
Securepath on EVA5000; this server gets 4 LUNs from SAN

This setup has work for more than a year, recently the SAN guys did "something"...and now we have a problem

with a path missing on 2 HP servers.

It starting with one path shows "failed" in "spmgr display", they did a "rezone" (he created a new zone and

delete the old one) ...After a reboot (which takes more than 12min than usual) the "spmgr display" shows no

path failed anymore (se below) and it shows 3 paths instead of 4 for a device/LUN.

From hpux view there are no problems with the driver, the FW, the HW (see below). Nothing in messages.

Why there is only one path showed on td1? is this a san switch problem, is this a SAN controller problem ??

is there a way we can check it. Are there other problems? Please help, many thanks on advanced.

NB1: it is the same problem on an another HP server
NB2: I had tried the restart, restore option from spmgr, nothing help.

Regards,
Tuan

Re: Securepath shows only 3 paths insteady of 4 for a LUN

Hi Tuan,

for all four luns it was the same path that was shown as 'failed' and dissappeared after reboot. (the path from hba td1 to eva controller P5849D5AAPR03Z).

This is most likely a SAN/zoning problem (zone missing/not effective/wrong wwn/port....), can you please have your SAN guys check it again?

regards,
Bernd

Re: Securepath shows only 3 paths insteady of 4 for a LUN

Hi Bernd,

Many thanks, he rechecked the zoning and then we try to use an another port on the SAN-switch. And everything is ok again.

Tuan
