Security software like Keon

Hello folk,

Is anyone using Boks Keon security software still ? This product is now supported by Fox Technologies - previously by TFS tech.
Can anyone tell me, which other similar products are there which will give me same features as Boks Keon and brief features and any pointers for that??

Can't say I use or even know of the product.

I will say that Bastille and security_patch_check do a pretty good job.

Search for Bastille and PERL5 download and install both.

Also, tripwire is an excellent product for HP-UX and I highly recommend it. It is now free as part of the Internex Express package on the same site above.

I've never worked with Keon, but think it was an authorization management solution.

I use it - it's just called BoKS now.

I think it works great - especially over multiple OS'es.

6.03 supports multiple user classes per user as well as group management.

We also took a quick look at:

But never went that way - stuck with BoKS instead.

Thanks everyone for responding.
But my real question is still unanswered.
Which other software products are there which would be similar to Boks which you can say is a user management software to define user classes and host groups and give membership and control accesses.

Geoff - since you use Boks , you know the features. Would you be able to guide me - is the eTrust Access control for Unix similar to Boks and offers similar or greater capability ?
I have not worked myself on Boks much, but we need to know what are the options similar to Boks which we can possibly use for a new solution we are thinking.

I took a quick look at eTrust Access Control...seems to provide the same functionality - but then I read this:

Do I need to replace any system programs?
No. The authorization checking of eTrust Access Control works without replacing a single binary file on your system. This is possible since the interception of access to system resources is done at the operating system level.

That is different from BoKS - as BoKS does replace key binaries (well - it moves the old ones - things like telnet, ssh, ftp, etc).

eTrust also adds a firewall and Web Access Regulation.

That said, I still prefer BoKS. They have great support.

I don't know what others charge, but I know BoKS is about $1000 per server license and $1000 per year for maintenance.

If I was starting from scratch, I would request evals of different vendors and compare.

I am still keeping this thread open, so as to get links to any other similar software so that I have more options. Please let me know if there are any other software like Boks.
