Seeing the Clariion devices as /dev/rscsi/cxtxdx devices.
I have allocated some clariion devices to the HP UNIX 11.11 server. Using the emulex HBAs.
I'm not seeing the "disk" as the class for the devices and it's showing "ctl" as the class for the devices and the driver is sctl.
How can I fix the problem and see them as the regular hard disks (class: disk)
ctl 10 0/0/8/0/1.0.0.0.0.6 sctl CLAIMED DEVICE DGC CX7

/dev/rscsi/c22t0d6
ctl 11 0/0/8/0/1.0.0.0.0.7 sctl CLAIMED DEVICE DGC CX7

ctl 12 0/0/8/0/1.0.0.0.1.0 sctl CLAIMED DEVICE DGC CX7

Re: Seeing the Clariion devices as /dev/rscsi/cxtxdx devices.
Shalom Arockia,
I think the first step is to see if the disk has been allocated on the Clarion device to the World Wide Name(WWN) of the fiber card that is detecting it.
You appear to be picking up the devices on three different Fiber cards. If the disk is not assigned, this is the answer.
Sometimes the disk array itself is detected as LUN0 when no LUN0 is assigned to the fiber card. The fix for this is also to assign disk to LUN0 on the Fiber Channel Array.

Re: Seeing the Clariion devices as /dev/rscsi/cxtxdx devices.
Hi,
It seems you have 3 LUNs created which are shown against/through the FC HBA 0/0/8/1. I guess the "sctl" driver being attached to those LUN on account of incorrect identification of the LUNs/volumes.
From HP-UX point of view, EMC volumes/LUNs are supposed to be addressed using VSA ( Volume Set Addressing). Ensure VSA addressing is used at Clariion storage controller end. The LUNs should be presented for "HPUX" host against the WWN of the FC HBA installed in the respective HPUX host.
