sendmail and content/spam/virus scanning

sendmail and content/spam/virus scanning

I have received "orders" to find a device for performing content/spam and virus scannning on in and outbound SMTP mail. I admin the Sendmail here as well.
I was wondering if anyone else out here is doing this and with what product?
I am going to evaluate a McAffee product called 'webshield' but am curious what others' experiences may be (good OR bad)
Thanks as always, for your time,
Robin

Re: sendmail and content/spam/virus scanning

You can add some limite rulesets to sendmail that will "help" with viruses.

There is also virus software that is purported to run on the various Unices from all of the major virus software vendors. For most of this software, you change HP's default delivery agent from rmail to procmail or something more functional than the stock HP delivery agents.

PRO:
Virused software is deleted/quarantined/rejected before delivery. The software vendors stay reasonably up to date.

CON: you need more HP (horse power ;-)) to scan each incoming e-mail.

Here's one from Network Associates you can try out:

Christopher, I can't access the link in your
reply, but, I'm thinking if it's NAI, it's the
same product I'm looking at now. (NAI bought McAffee a while back). Anyway, thanks very
much for the response.
