sendmail autoconvert 8bit quoted-printable

I have problems with the X-MIME-Autoconvert functionality on hpux 11.x server (sendmail V 8.11.1).

I receive a quoted-printable email, where I add some data-lines in the body. After the autoconvert (to 8bit) the extra lines in the body are changed.

ex.
if I add
%affected_rc=email

it becomes
%affected_rc??il

How can I get influence on this behaviour?
