I have this error when start SENDMAIL DAEMON:
Server1:/sbin/rc2.d> ./S540sendmail start
/etc/mail/sendmail.cf: line 698: fileclass: cannot open '/etc/mail/sendmail.cw': Group writable directory
WARNING: Group writable directory /
451 4.0.0 /etc/mail/sendmail.cf: line 698: fileclass: cannot open '/etc/mail/sendmail.cw': Group writable directory
Server1:> grep -i -n -e err -e fail -e fault -e warn -e miss /etc/rc.log
135:-rw-r--r-- 1 root sys 178 Dec 12 15:38 root.errorlog
341:WARNING: Group writable directory /
343:"/sbin/rc2.d/S540sendmail start" FAILED

Could you post or check the permissions of
# ls -lad /
drwxr-xr-x 21 root root 1024 Oct 14 15:57 /
# ls -lad /etc
dr-xr-xr-x 27 bin bin 6144 Feb 3 20:41 /etc
# ls -lad /etc/mail
dr-xr-xr-x 2 bin bin 1024 Dec 7 15:55 /etc/mail
