Hello all:
I have this sendmail error continually popping up on my system. I've checked the man pages, the Perfomance and Tuning book and a HP book I use called HP Ceritied to remove the error from my system, but can not get the sendmail messages to stop. I'm not sure if I need to reload the sendmail patch to remove this error, but I do know that rebooting the server won't reset or stop the error messages.
Also, I believe this has something to do with a .profile error I had last week, which I was able to fix with the help of a couple of you HP gurus. So, once again I'm asking for some much needed assistance to resolve this problem.
Attached is the error message I am getting.

Check permission on /var/mail - should be:
drwxrwxr-x 2 bin mail 96 Mar 31 10:23 mail

Re: sendmail error?
Geoff is there a book or manual or somewhere I can check to verify all of my permissions and ownership on my Unix box?

Re: sendmail error?
Sorry - don't know of a book - best to have a second system - for a test machine - even a workstation - that you can load/reload the OS - then compare permission as you need to....as there are 1000's of filesystems/directories on any Unix system....
